HITN Media premieres El sueño americano, a Spanish-language special exploring how the American Dream is changing, as part of the network’s Hispanic Heritage Month programming.

The documentary, adapted from Amerigo: The Search for the American Dream, is also available on demand through HITNGo.

David McCourt

Hosted by Emmy Award-winning producer and entrepreneur David McCourt, the program draws on two years of reporting across the United States, during which he spoke with more than 1,000 people about work, opportunity, family, belonging and their hopes for the future.

“When I set out to make Amerigo, I wanted to understand what the American Dream looks like today through the voices of people actually living it. What we found again and again is that Hispanic and Latino Americans are driving it. The idea that one in four new businesses in this country are being started by Hispanic and Latino entrepreneurs, up from one in ten a generation ago, is exactly what I hoped to capture when I set out to make this film,” said McCourt.

Amerigo highlights their contributions and aspirations, making it a natural fit for HITN and our commitment to telling stories that reflect our community,” Michael Nieves, president and chief executive of HITN Media, said.

HITN has also prepared a series of short, previously unreleased segments produced by the Amerigo team throughout Hispanic Heritage Month. The segments come from AD250.com, a companion campaign in which more than 5,000 Americans have shared video reflections on the American Dream, with more than one-third identifying as Hispanic or Latino.

Directed by Adam Mason and co-produced by David and Julie McCourt of McCourt Entertainment, the original documentary was presented by South Florida PBS and distributed nationally by American Public Television as part of programming commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence.
