As the FIFA World Cup 2026™ enters its closing stages, HITN’s rooftop studio has quietly become the backdrop for broadcasts reaching millions of soccer fans across Africa.
The 23,000-square-foot rooftop terrace has served as the New York production headquarters for New World Televisions’ World Cup coverage. The operation, managed by France-based PGS Group, has produced live programming for audiences in Sub-Saharan Africa, where New World TV holds broadcast rights to the tournament.
According to the companies, the broadcasts have reached more than 90 million homes across the region, with approximately 40 production and technical staff working from the Brooklyn site in recent weeks. The temporary broadcast center includes presentation studios, production offices and technical operations supported by HITN’s existing facilities.
The location was selected after New World TV evaluated several sites across New York City, citing the rooftop’s panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline and the infrastructure needed to support a large-scale live television production.
“As the tournament reaches its conclusion, this project has demonstrated the extraordinary capabilities of HITN Media’s Brooklyn studios as a premier destination for international media production,” Michael D. Nieves, president and CEO of HITN, said in a statement. He added that the combination of technology, connectivity and a recognizable New York setting enabled the company to support a global broadcast during one of the world’s largest sporting events.
The production has relied on HITN’s fiber connectivity, power distribution, transmission services and technical support, while project management for the network was coordinated by Juan Pablo Santos of Wood Creek Road Productions.
For New World TV, the Brooklyn location offered more than a scenic backdrop. “New York City is one of the world’s great stages, and for a tournament of this magnitude we wanted a location that reflected the energy, ambition and global reach of our coverage,” said Aboubakar Coulibaly, chief executive of New World Televisions Group.
Michaël Viviani, PGS Group’s chief executive, said the project demonstrated how international partnerships could rapidly establish a full-scale broadcast operation for a global sporting event. He also said HITN’s facilities combined operational readiness with a location that showcased New York’s skyline to viewers abroad.
According to HITN this production highlights its Brooklyn studios as a venue capable of hosting major live television events and international productions, a role the company hopes will continue beyond this summer’s tournament.
