HITN PREMIERES IN-DEPTH DOCUMENTARY ON DR. FAUCI’S LIFE AND WORK

HITN, in collaboration with The Associated Press and South Florida PBS, produced an original hour-long documentary on Dr. Anthony Fauci. ‘Fauci: The Virus Hunter’ spans through his humble early beginnings in Brooklyn to becoming a leading voice among global health experts.

‘Fauci: The Virus Hunter’ dives into Fauci’s professional facet, through the words of those who have been close to him all these years, including renowned experts like Dr. John I. HITN TRANSMITS LIVE LANDING OF NASA’S PERSEVERANCE ROVER ON MARS

HITN broadcasts Live transmission of Nasa’s Perseverance Rover landing on Mars premiering on HITN-TV and the HITN GO App

Brooklyn, New York – HITN has partnered with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to broadcast live coverage of the Perseverance Rover landing on Mars on Thursday, February 18, 2021. This momentous event will begin at 2:30PM EST/11:30 PST and will be available in Spanish language on HITN-TV and on the HITN GO App.

The live transmission will allow viewers to watch the final descent after a 7-month circuit, 300-million-mile voyage through the solar system that launched on July 30, 2020 from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Part of NASA’s latest expedition to the Red Planet, the Mars 2020 mission is designed to seek signs of ancient life at the Jezero Crater, with plans to collect rock and soil samples for a possible future return and study on Earth.

Perseverance Rover is the fifth consecutive rover named by 13-year-old Alexander Mather from Virginia following a 28,000 initial K-12 entries student essay competition as part of Nasa’s continuous efforts to make space discovery an inclusive, educational opportunity.

HITN BROADCASTS LIVE COVERAGE OF INAUGURATION DAY 2021

HITN TV’s host Gerson Borrero will keep the Hispanic community informed in real time, on the proceedings of Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s inauguration ceremony as the 46th President of the United States.

Brooklyn, NY –– As part of its mission to keep the Hispanic community informed about political developments, HITN-TV will broadcast the inauguration ceremony on January 20 that will make Joseph R. Biden Jr. the 46th president of the United States. Estudio DC Podcast: A One-Stop Shop to Political Education

The new project from the Spanish media company starts with an interview with Congressman José Serrano

As a contribution aimed at educating Hispanic voters towards the 2020 general elections to be held in just a few weeks, HITN recently launched a new podcast aimed at keeping them informed about key aspects of the process and the current, most relevant moments, like the response to COVID-19.

HITN produces a Sunday morning television show called “Estudio DC,” and now the project is to transform each episode of the program into a compressed 35-minute podcast.

“We started the podcast with José Serrano, the iconic congressman from The Bronx, who was approached by HITN through Gerson Borrero, in the only interview that he granted after announcing his retirement from the political arena, after four decades in Washington,” said HITN President and CEO Michael D. Nieves.

Nieves added that, Congressman Serrano talks in the interview with no filters about the disease that made him leave Congress, and his achievements.

“We are trying to offer our audience, the Latino audience, something specific for them, mostly in Spanish. We think that there are enough people throughout the country that would be interested in listening to what our most experienced members of Congress have to say, and the podcast would be a way to do it,” added Nieves.

Nieves explained later that HITN has other episodes about other elected public officials that have been interviewed in the “Estudio DC” program. He cited, for example, Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez and Congressmen Xavier Becerra, Luis Gutiérrez, and “Chuy” García from Chicago.

Meanwhile, Gerson Borrero emphasized the historical value of Congressman Serrano as a representative of The Bronx.“In the interview, you will listen to a man who speaks openly about his political life. You will also discover a new aspect of Gerson Borrero, a curious person that unravels what people want to know. In this experience Serrano offers, with no limits, all of the possible answers,” expressed the controversial interviewer.

HITN hopes that the format contributes to attracting and involving younger listeners and others not subscribed to HITN. For politicians from New York and other places where Spanish is not spoken, the podcast will also be translated into English.

New podcast targets Latinos ahead of 2020 elections

HITN’s “Estudio DC” features interviews with members of Congress and other experts.

With the 2020 general election just weeks away, Latinos are poised to play a role in key races – and there’s a new podcast aimed at keeping them informed on the biggest issues.

On Tuesday, HITN is launching a weekly podcast featuring members of Congress talking about politics and policy experts discussing pressing matters like the COVID-19 response. The New York-based Spanish-language media company, which already produces a Washington-oriented Sunday morning TV show called “Estudio DC,” will convert each episode of that show into a slimmed down 35-minute podcast. The company hopes the format will help attract and engage younger listeners and others who aren’t HITN subscribers. And for political insiders in New York and elsewhere who don’t speak Spanish, there’ll be an English translation posted as well.

City & State spoke with HITN President and CEO Michael Nieves about the new “Estudio DC” podcast, the highlights of the inaugural episode with Rep. José E. Serrano, and more. This interview has been edited for length and clarity.

So tell me about your new podcast.

We’re launching the podcast (on Tuesday). It’s a podcast that translates our talk show that we have on Sundays, “Estudio DC,” which is hosted by Gerson Borrero. Our first episode is the exclusive interview that Gerson had with Congressman José Serrano, who’s retiring. He had only agreed to be interviewed by HITN and Borrero – that’s the only interview he’s given since he announced that he’s leaving Congress because of his illness. So we’re very lucky to be the ones he agreed to talk to. So now we’re going to translate that and put it out in English, but our channel is a Spanish-language channel.

Any highlights from your first episode with Serrano?

He goes into the reason why he’s leaving Congress. He talks about his major achievements, what he’s most proud of. People will be interested in hearing about the machinations behind the scenes as chair of his committee. He’s frank and upfront about the illness, which is what most people are going to be curious about. That’s what’s going to sell that particular episode. We have other episodes about other electeds that we’ve interviewed over the years, and we’re in the process now of translating a bunch of them. We have Nydia Velázquez. We have Luis Gutiérrez. We have “Chuy” Garcia from Chicago. We’re trying to offer our viewing audience, which is the Latino audience, most of it Spanish language, something that is particular to them. But we believe that there are enough people across the country who are interested in this growing demographic of Hispanics that they would be interested in hearing what our more senior people in Congress have to say, and it’ll be a way for them to not figure out what Nydia is saying – they can actually hear her in these interviews.

So this will include New York elected officials, but also members of Congress from around the country?

Yes. It’s a Washington-based talk show program on Sundays. It’s geared more to the Washington world, but because of the consequence of who we are, and we’re in New York, we do have New York electeds who will also be interviewed. It’s a twofer for us. You’ll be able to hear from some of our electeds. If we can get the governor on, that would be a real plus for us. He’s known across the country now because of the pandemic and what he’s been doing, so we’re targeting those kinds of electeds who can share the New York story with the rest of the country.

So not just members of Congress.

Not necessarily. Last week’s program was on COVID and we didn’t have any electeds. They were all professionals and academics who got together to discuss how this affects the Latino community, healthwise and mental healthwise. What we’re trying to do between now and the election is to bring up issues that are relevant to the Latino population across the country, and therefore sometimes we have to bring in other people than electeds to help expand on what the pandemic really is, and they’re better prepared to speak about it. Our electeds are more partisan. Republicans are going to give you the Republican spin, and Democrats are going to give you the Democratic spin. But academics and people that are not politically oriented, the conversation is less political, and we’re trying to do that to help our viewers understand what the issues of the day are rather than changing them one way or the other.

HITN LAUNCHES SPECIAL ELECTORAL COVERAGE

HITN will launch its Electoral coverage campaign coverage including step by step voting information and daily updates in a multiplatform effort to inform and educate Spanish-speaking families on the importance and power of the US Latino Vote

Brooklyn, NYHITN TV announced its presidential coverage, an educational and informational campaign to encourage the Latino community to participate in the upcoming 2020 election. The campaign aims to help Latinos understand current events in the political arena and provide easy to understand, step by step information on the complex electoral system of the United States and provide important registration and voter education. The campaign starts this month with coverage of the Democratic and Republic conventions, including political analysis and interviews from political experts, and up to date election information across television, social and digital platforms.

The campaign will be hosted by acclaimed political commentator and host of HITN’s ‘Estudio DC’ Gerson Borrero who will feature interviews and panels from the Democratic and Republican conventions with a special focus on the issues that matter the most to Latino voters.

According the Pew Research Center, more than 32 Million Latinos will be eligible to vote in 2020. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, only about 48% of Hispanics eligible to vote did so in the 2016 presidential election.

HITN will make its educational capsules and digital content on the electoral process available to educational institutions and organizations in the U.S. that will further reinforce and raise awareness to the importance of the Latino vote in this presidential election. And as in past presidential elections, HITN will cover the electoral process and will run through Election Day in November.

The new HITN app will allow Spanish speaking families to access a wealth of new, engaging and smart content to access whenever and wherever they choose.

Brooklyn, NY – HITN TV announced an evolution of its entertainment digital app to HITN GO. The fresh, reinvigorated App will feature a wealth of new content that will enable subscribers to access its authenticated TV Everywhere and VOD services whenever and wherever they choose. The HITN GO app can be downloaded in iOS from the Apple’s App Store and in Android from Google Play. HITN GO is also available for Apple TV and Roku devices.
