HITN Expands Its Distribution Opportunities Through The National Cable Television Cooperation (NCTC)

The partnership allows NCTC member operators – which together provide service to millions of subscribers – to offer their customers unlimited access to HITN’s educational and entertainment content through their linear services, TV everywhere services and digital platforms.

This agreement demonstrates the interest our programming strategy has generated in the market, while at the same time allowing hundreds of operators the opportunity to offer their Pay TV subscribers in the United States a fresh and different alternative to traditional Hispanic networks,” remarked Eric Turpin, General Manager of HITN-TV.

The new service also offers access to AVANZA Kids, the United States’ first educational SVOD platform in Spanish that features Premium entertainment content.


AVANZA puts our company at the forefront of the market with an innovative digital option that offers the quality content for which our network is known free to subscribers, as well as a subscription-based Premium service with educational children’s programming, all on a top-level technological platform,” says Mike Nieves, President and CEO of HITN.  “The new service expands our mission by offering our viewers relevant programming designed to help improve their quality of life, available on any screen, anytime. On November 11th and 12th, HITN will air a 48-hour Top Gear marathon. Over the course of these two days, the network will share a total of 48 codes (one per episode) that fans will need in order to win a trip to the automotive industry’s biggest event in the United States, the legendary North American International Auto Show.

Mundo CNET’ (13×22) will air Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific starting September 26.

HITN TV was nominated in the Arts category for the production: ‘Arte Desde 3 Perspectivas en un Mismo Idioma.’  In the community/public service category, the network was singled out for the PSAs ‘Lo Que Realmente Importa’ and ‘Nuestro Voto, Nuestra Voz,’ both of which were written, produced and directed by Nydia Marsella.

HITN Makes History By Bringing “Top Gear” To U.S. Hispanic Television

Brooklyn, NY HITN, the Spanish-language network that provides educational and entertainment programming to more than 44 million households across the United States, will make history in May as the first Spanish-language network in the United States to air Top Gear to the US Hispanic Television, the world’s most popular and acclaimed automotive series.   Across the country, fans of all things motorized will be able to enjoy Seasons 14 through 16 of Top Gear in English with Spanish subtitles on HITN starting May 2.

Hosted by the famously irreverent Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, Top Gear showcases super vehicles, extreme stunts and challenges on wheels along with exclusive celebrity interviews and critiques of the latest car models.  Despite being a classic in its genre for more than two decades, with fans around the world, the show has never aired on a Spanish-language network in the US.  All that is about to change with HITN’s inclusion of Top Gear as part of a new block designed to spark viewers’ interest in science and technology programming.

Top Gear Season 14 is comprised of seven action-packed episodes full of challenges and car races, ranging from a tarmac in Romania to a special filmed in Bolivia.  The six episodes in Season 15 include tribute to the withdrawal from the market of the Chevrolet Lacetti, a rare visit to the Top Gear track to test the Porsche 911, and a road trip across the south of England. Lastly, series 16 has of a total of seven episodes, including a special traversing the Middle East on a journey to Bethlehem, this season is packed with serious cars and power, culminating in a race against time to beat the sun to land’s end in a Jaguar XJ.

Top Gear’ will make its debut on HITN starting May 2 and will air Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. EST/PST, with a re-transmission at 10:00 p.m. EST/PST, Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. EST/PST and a retransmission at 12:00 p.m.
