HITN Studios recently hosted 14 fifth-grade students from Brooklyn’s Magnet School of Journalism & Multimedia Studies for a hands-on media production experience through its Student Spotlight initiative.

The visit gave students an opportunity to step beyond a traditional school tour and participate as on-camera talent and content creators. Working alongside HITN professionals, the students explored various production roles, learned how a television studio operates, and collaborated to create a public service announcement focused on kindness.

The program was supported by New York State Senator Roxanne J. Persaud, who represents the 19th Senate District and has promoted educational and career exploration opportunities for students.

By taking part in the production process, students gained exposure to journalism and media careers while developing communication skills and confidence. The experience also highlighted the role of media as a tool for storytelling, civic engagement, and community impact.
