HITN won a New York Sports Emmy for a profile of Sonia Manzano, the pioneering television personality whose decades on Sesame Street helped broaden Latino representation on American television.

The winning report, Puerto Rican Heritage 2025: Sonia Manzano, was recognized in the Human Interest & Sports Content-Spanish category at the fourth annual New York Sports Emmy Awards. It competed against two entries from Telemundo 47.

The awards ceremony, held at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square, brought together producers, hosts and creative teams from television networks and production companies responsible for sports programming in 2025.

HITN also had a presence on the stage, with a network representative serving as one of the event’s presenters.

The Emmy adds to HITN’s recognition for its coverage of Puerto Rican and Latino stories, including its Puerto Rican Heritage series, which highlights influential figures and their contributions to American life and culture.
