Residents, survivors, caregivers, and community advocates gathered in San Antonio, Texas, for the 2026 Get Your Rear in Gear 5K run and walk, an annual event organized by the Colon Cancer Coalition to raise awareness and support for colorectal cancer prevention, education, and patient care.
The event took place on April 12th at Mission County Park and brought together hundreds of participants committed to promoting early detection and community health.
HITN was among the event’s key supporters and participated as a Co-Premier sponsor. HITN’s involvement highlighted the organization’s ongoing commitment to connecting with Hispanic communities through health education, awareness initiatives, and culturally relevant media resources.
Through its health and wellness platform, Vida y Salud, HITN continues to provide Spanish-speaking audiences with trusted information about preventive healthcare, chronic disease awareness, nutrition, mental health, and cancer prevention. The organization emphasized the importance of community outreach events such as “Get Your Rear in Gear” as opportunities to encourage families to prioritize screenings and have open conversations about colorectal health.
The Get Your Rear in Gear series is recognized as one of North America’s largest grassroots movements focused on colorectal cancer awareness. Funds raised through local events remain within the community to help increase screening access, support patients and survivors, and provide educational programs tailored to local needs.
HITN’s participation reinforced the organization’s mission to empower Hispanic audiences with accessible information and meaningful community partnerships that improve health outcomes across the country.
