HITN is proud to announce the election of Aida M. Márquez Ibáñez, a respected legislator in Puerto Rico with a distinguished record of public service, as the newest member of its esteemed Board of Directors.

With over two decades of experience in municipal governance in Puerto Rico, Ms. Marquez will contribute expertise in public administration, reform, and civic engagement to HITN’s Board of Directors.
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Márquez Ibáñez holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences with a concentration in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico and an MBA from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. Her academic and professional trajectory reflects a deep commitment to transparent and effective governance.
Her public service career began in 1997, when she was elected as a municipal legislator in Guaynabo during Mayor Héctor O’Neill’s reelection campaign. Over two decades, she played a critical role in shaping fiscal policy, modernizing infrastructure, and improving service delivery by streamlining administrative processes.
Ms. Márquez has also held senior positions in key government agencies, including the Puerto Rico Senate, the State Elections Commission, the Office of Legislative Services, and the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority. Her work in human resources and operations has led to measurable reforms in efficiency and accountability. She remains a respected voice in Puerto Rican civic life, known for her integrity and commitment to public service. Her leadership reflects HITN’s mission to inform and empower Hispanic communities.
