The Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts (AIVA) has honored HITN’s initiative, Tú Cuentas Cine Youth Fest, at the 31st annual Communicator Awards.
The project received two distinctions in the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion category: an Award of Excellence for Tú Cuentas Award Show, and an Award of Distinction for Tú Cuentas Film Chat with Raymond A. Perez, featuring guests Laura Alemán and Chelsea Rendon.
“In a year where our theme was ‘Communication is Connection,’ it was moving to see how this idea came to life in the work,” said Lauren Angeloni, AIVA’s Managing Director. “Whether centered around storytelling or marketing case studies, the entries reflected the power of communication to bridge gaps between people, platforms, and perspectives.”
Cynthia Rivera, Tú Cuentas Co-Director, shared her thoughts on the recognition:
“As a team, we are honored to see the creativity and vision of our young filmmakers recognized on such a prestigious stage. These awards are a testament to the power of authentic Latino storytelling and the impact our community can have when given a platform. We are proud to help amplify these voices and look forward to continuing our mission to inspire, empower, and open doors for the next generation of storytellers.”
The HITN team recognized for the Award of Excellence includes Luis Alejandro Molina (Film Festival Director), Cynthia Rivera (Director and Producer), and Laura Masnatta (Producer). The team behind the Award of Distinction includes Molina, Cynthia Rivera (Director and Producer), and Adalberto Jule (Editor).
According to AIVA, the Award of Excellence is the organization’s highest honor, given to entries that represent the best in the field. The Award of Distinction is presented to work that exceeds industry standards in quality and achievement.
