Members of HITN’s Community Affairs team traveled to Philadelphia to take part in Arte en las Calles: Fiesta de Verano, a cultural festival organized by Esperanza Arts Center (EAC). The team was on hand to share the network’s educational programming and community initiatives.
Founded several years ago in Philadelphia, Esperanza Arts Center serves as a hub for arts and culture, showcasing the rich traditions of Latin America and the Caribbean through music, dance, theater, film, and visual arts.
This year’s festival took place on Saturday, August 16th, in the EAC parking lot. The free, family-friendly celebration featured live music, dance, Latin food, local vendors, and activities for all ages.
Performers included Dendê and Band, Forrópera with Chrystal E. Williams and Felipe Hostins, and Blaze Born, a rock group from AMLA. Johanny Rodríguez of Rumba 106.1 hosted the event.
Alongside HITN, several community organizations were present, including AARP Pennsylvania, Artistas y Músicos Latinoamericanos (AMLA), Oak Street Health, and Pan American Behavioral Health Services, offering information about their programs and resources to festivalgoers.
