HITN proudly took part in the 68th Annual National Puerto Rican Day Parade, held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, in the heart of Manhattan.

Representing the network with enthusiasm and cultural pride, a team of HITN staff members marched up Fifth Avenue alongside thousands of participants and spectators.
Leading the HITN delegation was President and CEO Michael D. Nieves, joined by colleagues from departments across the organization, including Government and Community Affairs. Together, they celebrated Puerto Rican heritage, community, and resilience during one of New York City’s most iconic cultural events.
As is tradition, the parade brought the vibrant spirit of Puerto Rico to life through the sounds of plena and bomba, the beat of drums, colorful costumes, and the unmistakable energy of the Boricua community that fills the city streets each year.
This year’s parade paid tribute to several distinguished figures in the Puerto Rican community, including singer Olga Tañón (Queen), actor Luis Guzmán (King), actress Gina Rodríguez (Godmother), and merengue star Elvis Crespo (Godfather).
Beyond the celebration, the National Puerto Rican Day Parade also continues its impactful scholarship initiative. Each year, the organization awards 100 scholarships of $2,000 each—totaling $200,000—to outstanding students of Puerto Rican heritage who demonstrate academic excellence and a strong commitment to their communities.
Thanks to the continued support of sponsors, donors, and community partners, the NPRDP has awarded over $1.6 million in scholarships to date, helping to empower the next generation of Puerto Rican leaders through access to higher education.
