HITN joined the Puerto Rican Cultural Center (PRCC) in celebrating the 32nd Annual Fiesta Boricua de Bandera a Bandera this past Labor Day weekend.
Thousands of attendees gathered to celebrate Puerto Rican culture, music, and community pride during the event, held along Division Street between California Avenue and Western Avenue. HITN’s presence underscored the network’s support for cultural programming and its ongoing commitment to Puerto Rican and Hispanic communities.
The festival featured a weekend-long domino contest, a fashion show honoring the late Puerto Rican designer Rafael ‘Nono’ Maldonado, and a musical tribute to Latin jazz legend Eddie Palmieri, with performances by Michael Stuart, Yova Rodríguez, Anthony Carrillo, and Hernán Olivera.
Other highlights included cultural corridors with senior activities, youth boxing, and free health services, as well as contributions from visiting mayors Jorge Pérez Heredia of Utuado, Puerto Rico, and Jackie Espinosa of Kissimmee, Florida. The weekend also marked the grand opening of five new businesses on Division Street, highlighting the continued revitalization of Paseo Boricua.
The 32nd Fiesta Boricua celebrated the vibrancy of Puerto Rican culture and the strength of Chicago’s community. HITN was proud to take part in this annual tradition and to support the city’s Puerto Rican and Hispanic communities.
