HITN Attends Consulmex NY’s 100-Day Report

Mexico’s Consul General in New York, Marcos Bucio Mujica, presented a report outlining the activities and accomplishments achieved during the first 100 days of his tenure leading the diplomatic mission.

Mexico’s Consul General in New York, Marcos Bucio Mujica, presented a report outlining the activities and accomplishments achieved during the first 100 days of his tenure leading the diplomatic mission.

To highlight the progress made during this period, he convened representatives from various organizations and Hispanic community leaders, who attended the event.

Among the distinguished guests was Michael D. Nieves, President and CEO of HITN, whose participation in the official ceremony reaffirmed the network’s commitment to the Mexican community. Also in attendance were several non-governmental organizations that work directly with Mexican nationals abroad; some were recognized for their advocacy on behalf of the migrant population, including La Colmena and Fuerza Migrante.

During the event, consuls overseeing the different departments within the New York delegation took the opportunity to brief attendees on key outcomes and advancements. Notable highlights included the relaunch of the detention center visitation program and the reactivation of the external legal advisors initiative, both under the Protection Department.

In the area of Legal Affairs, officials reported the completion of more than 1,700 notarial services, as well as assistance provided in over 500 walk-in cases. Meanwhile, the Documentation Department announced that during the period under review, the Consulate served an average of 800 visitors per day, processing more than 23,000 applications and issuing the corresponding official documents.

The Press and Public Affairs Office emphasized the growth of Consulmex NYC’s digital audience, which increased by more than 50,000 followers on social media, reaching a total of 176,000 users. With this reach, the New York office has become the most followed representation within Mexico’s consular network.

With its CEO in attendance at the event, HITN reiterated its commitment to supporting consular initiatives that provide assistance to their respective communities abroad.
