Tens of thousands of immigrants have been deported in the past year according to the immigration and customs department, with the highest levels reported in Georgia and the Carolinas.
The reason is program 287g that has existed since 1996, which enables local law enforcement to work with immigration officials in detaining undocumented aliens for minor offenses and then deporting them. A large percentage of those deported as a result of the 287g ended up in custody for minor traffic offenses like driving without a license or with a suspended license.
On Dialogo de Costa a Costa we will be discussing the situation faced by undocumented aliens: Who has the right to arrest and deport, and what states are actively involved in executing this program? We'll also hear from those in favor of this law. Don't miss it!.
